Our aim is to create a boarding kennel facility which sets the benchmark with regard to modern boarding kennel installations.
We have worked closely with dog kennel manufacturer ‘Broxap’ to create the very best in boarding kennel units which far exceed the standard requirements set out by the environmental health model licence agreement for dogs. | Each kennel has a separate exercise run; both kennel and run are housed internally within our fully insulated building. This eliminates damp, cold and draughty outdoor runs which creates an environment closer to what a dog is used to at home. Each kennel has its own lighting and extraction system as well as a thermostatically controlled heating and cooling system. The kennels are fully insulated providing a hygienic, warm and damp free sleeping area. The UPVC composite kennels also have a Class A fire rating. |

Exercise & Play
We believe a well exercised and stimulated dog is a happy dog. With this in mind the design and functionality of our exercise and play areas here at Highwood Kennels are second to none! We have a securely fenced outdoor two acre paddock to allow your dog plenty of 'off the lead' running on dry days. |
| We also have a 20 x 60ft indoor exercise area complete with a range of play equipment for rainy days so come rain or shine your dog is guaranteed plenty of exercise and playtime. Your dog will be taken out a minimum of three times a day with his own dedicated carer.
We believe that with the owners consent and under supervision, dogs should be allowed to socialise with other canine companions. The opportunity for dogs to mix freely together provides the perfect environment for essential socialising skills to be learnt.
For dogs that don’t mix so well we offer all the same activities but separate from other dogs. Just let us know how you would like your dog to be exercised on your reservation form |

Diet, Nutrition & Treats
We provide a wide variety of high quality dry and tinned foods. We feed Royal Canin Premium dry food to all our boarders. If your dog is a fussy eater, diet sensitive or if you would prefer us to feed your dogs regular food from home please bring enough to last the duration of their stay. If your dog has tinned meat as a mixer we also ask that you supply this. If your dog is on a veterinary prescription diet we ask that you supply this for the duration of their stay. |
With regards to feeding frequency, we will feed your pet according to your instructions. We provide treats in the form of pigs ears, raw-hide chews, meat filled kongs and biscuits during their stay with us, please let us know on your reservation form if you would prefer us not to do so. You are of course welcome to bring all of your dogs favourite treats and biscuits from home.
Bedding & Toys
We can provide all baskets, beds and bedding throughout your dogs stay, however, please feel free to bring any bedding that might make your pets visit more comfortable. Bedding from home with a familiar smell helps the dog adapt to their new environment. We have blankets or fluffy comforters available for boarders that require bedding or extra comfort. |

| We encourage you to bring your dogs favourite toys and treats from home. We do not share your dogs’ personal toys with any of our other boarders. |

Grooming
We have a purpose built and fully equipped grooming parlour. Why not treat your dog to a doggie shower the day before departure? Veterinary Care
Our registered veterinary surgery, Glenthorne, is situated 5 minutes away from our kennels at, 71 Derby Road, Uttoxeter, ST14 8EB. Website. We have a vet on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We monitor all our guests on a daily basis to ensure they are in tip top condition. We accept dogs on medication and there is no extra charge for us to administer it. |

Insurance
All dogs are fully insured for the duration of their stay with us. Our insurance does not cover any pre-existing or ongoing conditions requiring veterinary care. |

Day Care
Highwood Kennels Day-care is a great solution for dog owners who are away during the day. Dogs get to enjoy a safe, healthy and fun atmosphere with lots of interaction, both with other dogs and with people. Dogs can participate in play groups, gnaw on a favourite toy, play games and have fun with their carers. We plan each day to insure that we deliver the utmost in group socialization, fun and provide the greatest benefit to each dog in our care. The point is that they’re not at home for long periods by themselves.
